Alabama Chapter Meeting
"Going Green"
Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008
11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m
Bringing a coffee mug to work instead of chugging your caffeine from disposable cups can help reduce the two million tons of paper and plastic cups and plates tossed out in the U.S. each year, according to Annie Fisher, Fortune magazine senior writer. Also, consider that Americans buy more than 5.1 billion pens annually, most of which get thrown out when the ink runs dry, creating about 770 tons of plastic waste in landfills each year. The solution: Use long-life refillable pens, which could also give your professional image a little boost, since they generally produce better-looking writing, Fisher adds.
Whether you work in a home office of one or a corporate complex with thousands of employees, this month's PRSA meeting could be just what you need to jumpstart a green New Year!
