The External Affairs group at Regions is responsible for corporate communications, governmental relations, public policy and corporate diversity. Created around the time the TARP program was introduced in late 2008, the team has seen the importance of a consistent message to employees, customers, elected officials and other key stakeholders over the past 18 months. During this time, Regions experienced unimaginable challenges, such as a publicly disclosed "stress test" of the 19 largest banks and failures of banks large and small. Rick Swagler is Senior Vice President & Director of External Affairs, Regions Financial Corp. His responsibilities include corporate communications, governmental affairs, public policy, and corporate diversity. Prior to joining Regions in 2000, Swagler served in senior editorial roles at The Tampa Tribune, The Birmingham News, and The Alabama Journal in Montgomery.
